Trade secrets: protection, infringement, and digital forensics – an integrated perspective
We hosted a meeting organized in collaboration with the ACFE Italy Chapter, focusing on trade secrets as assets for economic exploitation and strategic levers for businesses.
Through the analysis of a real-world case study and a practical simulation, the event provided a valuable opportunity for a multidisciplinary discussion on the dynamics of trade secret protection—covering both the preventive stage and the contentious phase should a dispute arise.
The meeting opened with an introduction by Elena Farinella, President of the ACFE Italy Chapter. Presentations followed from our own Licia Garotti, Partner in the Intellectual Property and Technology Law department; Stefano Solida, a criminal defense lawyer at Studio Isolabella; and Michele Cogo, Director of Digital Forensics & Cybersecurity at BDO Italia.
The event offered an opportunity to reflect on the critical importance of establishing adequate protection measures before a dispute arises, particularly regarding sensitive assets such as production processes, chemical formulas, proprietary technologies, corporate know-how, and commercial strategies.
